Many sporting events around the country are often referred to as games involving inches. In the world of fishing, it’s the individual ounces that really matter. For Steve Sweeney of Dannemora, NY, it was a single solitary ounce that made the difference between a $20,000 check and a check for $2,500 as the Lake Ontario Counties Trout and Salmon Derby came to a close on Labor Day. Based out of the seven New York counties along the south shore of Lake Ontario, the event was held August 20 to September 6.
